Anya Brownwyn

People often ask me what my style is. Well, I'm a painter. Abstract or Realist? Neither. Both. I paint what I feel and that may be a naked woman or an indistinguishable splash of color. Perhaps I haven't found my style yet. I've tried all different techniques & media, and at the end of the day, I still don't know which shoe fits. But if it comes down to trying to find the perfect size, I'd rather just go barefoot. You can't fit my work into any specific category. You can't call me a figurative painter. I will fill a room with whatever I feel I need to express and I will not close doors around me just to find my "certain style." As long as I get a reaction, whether it be a double-take or a look of disgust, I feel satisfied. I get inspiration from what I see. And I see a world that's headed in the wrong direction.
